The Denver and Rio Grande Railroad operated an extensive three foot (914mm) gauge network of lines in the 1950s. Only two of the most spectacular parts of the old D and R G survive, one of which is the 64 mile (100 km) section between Chama, New Mexico and Antonito, Colorado, which is the subject of this videotape.
In October 1993, a freight train re-enactment was held, using three narrow gauge 2-8-2 steam locos and 25 wagons to create an authentic freight train of the fifties. See, and hear, double headers, mid train helpers and pushers in crystal clear weather in the spectacular Rocky Mountains of Colorado and New Mexico.
All videofilmed on Broadcast Standard PAL video cameras (so no conversion from NTSC required) by the team that has produced the absolutely superb EK videos in the past. Edited on Betacam SP and directly duplicated. We have no hesitation in ranking this videotape as PQ A
