Hefty 2-8-0, 2-10-0 and express passenger 2-8-2 locos on passenger, goods and mixed trains in countryside ranging from lush mountain forest through hilly plateau to snow capped mountains. This is another of the top quality E K Videos and opens in lush green forested mountain scenery on the Black Sea coast between Eregli and Armutcuk, with a 4 car passenger train hauled by a class 45 2-8-0 leaving a long white trail of steam in the cold air.
There are several beautiful lineside views from all angles in brilliant sunlight taken on the isolated coal line between Eregli and Armatcuk. There are excellent close-ups of the loco and its running gear during shunting duties, followed by its departure on a coal train with passenger cars on the rear. Then follows good cab shots, and lineside scenes, followed by the passenger cars being detached and propelled to the passenger station. Loco depot scenes follow, taking water, views of the train interior, and of the loco from every angle.
A mixed train is then followed up the grades to Armatcuk. There are short town and country scenes including views of the increasingly rare timber houses, remnants of the Ottoman Empire.
The next sequence is taken in the Alasehir region, with a pair of 2-10-0 class 56 locos on a goods, starting from a water stop. The train is captured in all it's steamy glory, through a picturesque tunnel, over a spindly steel bridge and working hard through hilly plateau country.
The video concludes with a delightful series of lineside views of a class 46 express passenger 2-8-2 hauling a passenger train on the Baghdad Railway in spectacular rugged countryside with snow capped mountain, tunnel and stone embankment scenery.
There is occasionally music background, but the great majority of sound is that of the train itself. PQ A.
